Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan has finally addressed the long-standing rift with his younger brother Faissal Khan, responding emotionally to serious allegations of illegal confinement, career sabotage, and family mistreatment. In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of their joint film Mela (2000), Aamir expressed resignation, saying, “Kya karein? That is my destiny. You can fight the world, but how can you fight your own family?“
The controversy reignited after Faissal claimed last year that the family, including Aamir, kept him “imprisoned” at home for over a year, citing schizophrenia, and forced medication against his will. He also accused Aamir of deliberately ruining his acting career post-Mela‘s box-office failure and other personal grievances. Faissal publicly severed all ties with the family in 2025, renouncing claims to estates and monthly allowances.
Aamir, who produced Mela to launch Faissal’s career after his debut Madhosh flopped, admitted the film’s failure was heartbreaking but maintained his intentions were supportive. The brothers’ strained relationship has drawn public attention, with Aamir’s family issuing a joint statement last year calling Faissal’s claims “hurtful and misleading,” insisting decisions were made collectively on medical advice.

Aamir’s poignant response highlights the pain of familial discord, emphasizing that some battles are impossible to fight. Fans and industry insiders have reacted with sympathy, noting Aamir’s history of handling personal matters privately despite his superstar status.

As Mela turns 25, the milestone has unfortunately spotlighted this ongoing family feud rather than cinematic nostalgia. Aamir’s words reflect a sense of acceptance amid heartbreak, leaving many wondering if reconciliation is possible in this deeply personal saga.
